What to Expect in Our Weekly Modules
Lesson 1: What is Creative Non-Fiction?
The first lesson defines creative non-fiction itself. It takes the participant through the basics of the genre, and offers them the chance to write a short piece of creative non-fiction of their own.
Lesson 2: Creating Non-Fiction Characters
The second lesson guides participants through creating non-fiction ‘characters’ of their own. Although characters in non-fiction are drawn from real life, this lesson shows the participant how to engage the reader and create stories from them.
Lesson 3: Creating Non-Fiction Settings
In the third lesson, we ask what makes a good setting in creative non-fiction? Similar to the previous lesson, the third week guides participants through creating a non-fiction setting of their own through the advice of professional writers.
Lesson 4: Writing Personal Narratives
The second half of the course guides the participant through various forms of creative non-fiction. First on the list in lesson four is the personal narrative. The participant learns how to write a personal narrative of their own.
Lesson 5: Writing Subjectively
The penultimate lesson will guide the participant through writing subjectively. Rather than removing yourself through your writing, this lesson teaches you how to write a subjective review.
Lesson 6: Writing Your Life
The final lesson in this course guides the participant through writing their own memoir. It incorporates advice from various authors to help the participant write the most personal form of creative non-fiction.
