Competition Information

The Writing Competition for BlackInk Issue 6 is open for 2025 entries.

Submission Guidelines

  • Accepting short stories with the theme Intersection: Diasporic Dialogues.
  • Max. 2,000 words.
  • Fiction, written in prose, previously unpublished, and the applicant’s own original idea.
  • Complete the application form, including a short bio.

Entry conditions

  • Welcome applicants from those who identify with the aim of celebrating and supporting women telling their stories in ways that reconcile with their understanding of their own gender identity. This includes trans women, non-binary and cis women.
  • Applicants must be from the African, African Caribbean or Latin American Diaspora.
  • Applicants must be over 18 years old.
  • The competition is open to applicants internationally.

Entry fee: Free-to-enter.

Judges: Serendipity and Writing East Midlands panel.

Prizes

  • Winning stories will be published as part of BlackInk magazine, issue 6, in October 2025.
  • 1st place: £500.
  • 2nd place: £300.

Deadline: 28 March 2025, 5pm (GMT).
