Competition Information

Submission Guidelines

  • Seeking submissions on the theme of  “Coast”. It could be where land and sea meet or the act of ‘coasting’, where ever your imagination takes you.
  •  The competition is open internationally to writers aged 16.
  • Word limit of 5000 words, with no minimum.

Judges: Bestselling author Sean Lusk, winner of the Manchester Fiction Prize and the Fish Short Story Prize.

Entry fee: £10 entry fee per story and £5 for any subsequent entries.

Prizes:

  • First Prize: £500
  • Second Prize: £100
  • Third Prize: £50
  • Winning stories will be published on the Nairn Book and Arts Festival website, and their authors will be invited to read their work at the 2025 Nairn Book and Arts Festival.
