The Canterbury Tales Writing Competition 2020/21

The Canterbury Tales Writing Competition 2020/21 is open until February 28, 2021.

It comes from The Chaucer Heritage Trust. It’s their fourth annual writing competition for schools inspired by the works of Geoffrey Chaucer.

The theme of the competition is: Be Careful What You Wish For!

The competition is open to all students of school age.

There are three age groups:
Junior – 5-10 years old
Intermediate – 11-14 years old
Senior – 15-18 years old

Choose ONE of the following:
A poem or story about wishes coming true
A poem or story about wishes going wrong
A description of a character who grants wishes

Your writing should invoke the spirit of Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.
All entries must be in English and maximum 500 words.

Prizes:
Junior Category:
For the winner: £300, £150, £100
For their school: £1000, £500, £250
Intermediate
For the winner: £300, £150, £100
For their school: £1000, £500, £250
Senior
For the winner: £300, £150, £100
For their school: £1000, £500, £250
