The Aurora Prize for writing is open for submissions.
Submission Guidelines
- Writing East Midlands is accepting short stories of up to 2,000 words per entry.
- Accepting and poetry of up to 60 lines per entry; in any genre, on any subject.
- Aurora is a national competition open to writers aged 18 and above.
Judges: 2021 T.S. Eliot and 2022 Polari Prize winner Joelle Taylor and multi-award-winning author Irenosen Okojie.
Entry fee: £9 per first entry and £7 per additional entry, with a maximum of 6 entries to be submitted per writer.
Prizes:
- First-place winner: includes £500 cash, feedback from a leading literary agent, free Society of Authors’ membership, an SoA advisory session and a free ticket to one of our upcoming Aurora masterclasses.
- Regional, second & third-place winners: will receive £100, £150 and a free ticket to the WEM Writers’ Conference in 2027, respectively, as well as online publication and free masterclass tickets.
